The PAWS Approach

The PAWS Membership · Founding guardians

Understand your cat, one short lesson at a time.

The PAWS Membership is a guided path of short audio lessons, each ending with one small thing to try with your cat. Built on the four PAWS lenses, it helps everyday life feel safer, clearer and more manageable for both of you.

Founding guardians pay $30 a month, and keep that price for as long as they stay. The full course is designed and is being released lesson by lesson.

A gentle place to begin

A path, not a pile of tips.

When your cat’s behaviour leaves you puzzled, it helps to see things from their point of view. Instead of scattered tips, you get a path. It starts with how cats see the world, moves through the four lenses, and brings them together in practical choices for your household.

Not a quick fix, but a clearer way of understanding your cat, and small steps you can keep up.

How the lessons work

Audio-first. One small action.

Short, podcast-style lessons fit into the edges of an ordinary day, so you can listen while you walk, drive or wash up. Every lesson ends with one practical thing to try with your cat, not a list you’ll never get to.

The core lessons are released in order, so your understanding builds step by step. Optional mini-courses help with specific moments, and you can open them whenever you need them, without working through everything first.

What’s open now, and what’s coming

Start where it helps.

The whole path is designed and scripted. I’m recording it, and new lessons are added regularly.

  • Open now: the first lessons of Understanding Your Cat, plus the Brushing and Claw Trimming mini-courses.
  • Coming as they’re recorded: the rest of the core path and further mini-courses.

Start with what’s happening at home

Mini-courses for real-life moments.

Mini-courses are made for a particular moment in your cat’s life:

  • A new kitten joining the family
  • Litter tray or scratching concerns
  • Brushing, claw care, medication or vet visits
  • Moving, a new baby, guests or time away
  • Introducing a new pet, or easing tension between cats
  • Supporting an ageing, unwell, fearful or noise-sensitive cat

Brushing and claw care are open now. The others are designed and will open as they’re recorded.

The curriculum

Built on six parts.

The four lenses spell PAWS, which was not an accident.

Understanding Your Cat

Perspective before technique: observation, body language, stress signals, and what your cat’s behaviour may be communicating.

Predictability

Routines, clear signals and practising before it matters, so change is easier for your cat to cope with.

Agency

Real choice for your cat: consent-based handling, noticing “I’m done” signals, and training and care that build cooperation, not obedience.

Welfare

The everyday foundation: meeting needs, spotting pain, tracking health, knowing when to call the vet, and adapting care as your cat ages.

Security

Safe spaces, recovering from fear, introducing pets safely and being ready for emergencies.

Putting PAWS Together

Using all four lenses at once, with decision frameworks and hands-on cooperative care such as brushing, claw trimming, medication and vet visits.

Your guide

Expert-led, every step.

The PAWS Membership is led by a COAPE Certified Animal Behaviourist (C.C.A.B.), with a Diploma in Companion Animal Behaviour and Training and a 94% average.

  • Humane. Reward-based methods only. No punishment, no intimidation, no dominance.
  • Evidence-based. Grounded in current feline behaviour research, with myths like “cats are untrainable” set aside.
  • Honest about limits. Where a case needs a vet, I’ll say so.

A community, included

Learning, with company.

One membership covers the lessons and the community together. It’s a kind, moderated space for questions, small wins and reassurance when you’d like a little company.

It’s not a leaderboard or a competition, and it’s not a substitute for veterinary care or one-to-one behaviour support.

Still want one-to-one help?

A plan shaped around your cat.

The membership doesn’t replace consultations. If your cat’s behaviour needs a proper look, a consultation is still the right place to start, and plenty of people do both.

Common questions

A few useful answers.

What can I start with today?

The first lessons of Understanding Your Cat, and the Brushing and Claw Trimming mini-courses. New lessons are added regularly.

Will my founding rate go up?

No. It stays at $30 for as long as you remain a member. Once founding places are filled, membership will be $45 a month.

Is this a replacement for a consultation?

No. The membership teaches the framework at your own pace. A consultation gives you a plan built around your cat and your household.
