The PAWS Approach

Services

A calm, practical way to understand what your cat is communicating — and choose what happens next.

Start with a conversation. Leave with a plan.

Every engagement begins with a free discovery call, then moves into the level of support that fits your cat, your household and your goals.

01 · Start here

Free Discovery Call

A relaxed first conversation for you and your cat. We'll talk through what's happening, what you'd like support with and whether The PAWS Approach is the right fit. The call can be about behaviour concerns, cat skills and cooperative care, or a combination of both.

This is an initial conversation rather than a full assessment or written plan.

Support for the real life you share.

There is no one-size-fits-all cat. Start with the kind of support that matches what you are noticing now.

A note on pricing

Consultation rates increase on 27 October 2026. The Initial Cat Consultation moves to $220, and the Cat Consultation Package to $330. This reflects my completed COAPE certification and the depth of individualised work behind each plan. Bookings confirmed before 27 October are held at the current rate.

02 · Initial support

Initial Cat Consultation

90 min

A comprehensive one-on-one consultation to understand your cat's behaviour, environment, body language and routines, then turn that understanding into a practical plan you can use.

Together we can focus on behaviour concerns, cat skills and cooperative care, or both. This may include litter tray avoidance, scratching, fear, aggression, night-time activity, multi-cat tension, carrier comfort, handling, grooming, medication preparation or vet-visit readiness.

Before — A preparation questionnaire captures your cat's history and the details that matter.

Initial Cat Consultation — A live, approximately 90-minute session, in person around Canberra or Queanbeyan, or online anywhere in Australia. You don't need to choose the perfect focus beforehand, we'll work out what will be most useful for you and your cat.

After — A written, tailored behaviour modification or skills plan, with practical phases, progress markers and vet liaison where needed.

Initial Cat Consultation — $110

Increasing to $220 from 27 October 2026.

Have more than one cat? Each additional cat you'd like included is $50 and will be included in the tailored plan.

04 · Keep the plan useful

Follow Up Session

A focused 30-minute check-in for existing clients to troubleshoot, adjust and keep their tailored plan moving.

The PAWS approach

Every service is tailored to the cat, the household and your goals.

Your initial consultation gives you practical first steps straight away, shaped around what will work in your home.

The PAWS Behaviour & Skills Support Process

Support is a process, not a quick fix.

Whether we're addressing a behaviour concern, building practical skills, or working on both, cats and households change as we learn more. We take one useful step at a time, notice what happens, and keep shaping the support around the cat in front of us.

The plan can become clearer and more effective over time, without asking your cat or your household to change everything at once.

  1. 1

    Identify

Describe what the cat is doing in clear, observable terms.

  2. 2

    Assess

Consider health, environment, body language, triggers, context, and what the behaviour achieves.

  3. 3

    Plan

Set realistic goals and choose positive, welfare-based strategies.

  4. 4

    Implement

Make practical changes consistently, at the cat's pace.

  5. 5

    Monitor

Notice patterns, progress, and how the cat responds.

  6. 6

    Evaluate | Follow up

Review what is helping, what needs adjusting, and whether the goal still fits.

Keep listening. Notice. Understand. Adjust.

The loop keeps moving: Monitor → Evaluate → back to Plan. New information may also take us back to Identify or Assess.

Follow-ups are optional

What happens next depends on what you notice.

Progressing well?

Continue the plan at home and keep building on what's working.

Stuck, plateaued, or the behaviour has shifted?

A single follow-up gives us a fresh look, fine-tunes the existing plan, and checks nothing's been missed.

Complex, layered, or multiple behaviours involved?

A consultation package allows for a more thorough process, deeper assessment and ongoing support across several sessions.
